Terrorist invade Shady Cove City Hall

During the Shady Cove council meeting the evening of 9-20-01. Mayor Tom Anderson strongly admonished Mr. Les Weaver for what he considered not paying appropriate attention to a presentation given by Councilor Curtis. Subject of presentation was co-operation and respect of others. The Mayors angered oral outburst could only be interpreted as another in the growing list of attempts to intimidate Weaver who is one of two plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit filed against the mayor, two other city officials and the city of Shady Cove, by angrily expounding, "you sit there smug and chew on a toothpick". {neither a look, (possibly from intestinal discomfort), nor a tooth pick is illegal under any city through ferderal laws, however intimidation and harassment in this form may be}. After obtaining a copy of the taped meeting and playing it for other seniors, it was obvious that the mayor, not Weaver, neither heard nor abided by Councilor Curtis' sermon of respecting others.

The expected happened when eight of the seniors attending the council meeting on 10-06-01 quietly sat, "chewing on tooth picks". These seniors received no angered outburst from the mayor but....the attending police reserve officer Joe Perez, went to the corner of the room, drew his cell phone from his duty holster and was overheard telephoning reserve officer Bill Gillispe (sic?) for immediate "backup". Reserve officer Bill arrived within minutes seemingly in a display of enough police strength to prevent the seniors from wielding their lethal wooden weapons. The mayor and Shady Cove P.D. should now contact the National Security Agency to report this invasion by the Toothpick Terrorists and reassure our federal government that Shady Cove is doing its part during these most difficult times.
