Changes
I
have noticed a change in
the Upper Rogue
Independent since Nancy
Leonard published her
Editorial that questioned
whether some citizens of
Shady Cove trusted their
city hall.
It
suggested that the city
leadership take a long
hard look at themselves
and their ability to make
decisions.
Now
it appears that a major
advertiser has not been
buying the habitual full
page ads. Could it be
that one of the ways
Shady Cove controls, even
what is published, is to
convince its
businesses not to
purchase, or at least
reduce advertising space
from any media that dares
to disagree with city
hall?
Rumor
is that the mayor was
furious when he heard of
the editorial in advance
and called the Upper
Rogue Independent to
indignantly complain. He
then responded by
countering through the
use of the publicly
funded Insider, a
frequent habit.
In
that same Insider he asks
the city residents if he
should discontinue the
Insider apparently
inferring that if it does
not present his
particular agenda, it
will present nothing.
A
good way to blind the
public to the goings-on
in city hall. Why is
there now a clerk
position unfilled?
Is that an excuse to
provide less service to
the community
because of a vote
failure?
